Anxiety attacks are episodes of intense panic or fear.  Anxiety attacks usually occur suddenly, without warning and are traumatic.  During these times the terror can be so severe that you may feel as if you are about to die or totally lose control.  The physical symptoms are themselves so frightening; many people believe they are having a heart attack.  After an anxiety attack most people worry about having another one, especially where help isn’t available and you can’t get away.

Here are a few ways to tell if you are having a panic attack:

Feeling of losing control or going crazy?

Feeling like you’re going to pass out?

Trouble breathing or a choking sensation?

Hot flashes or chills?

Feelings of guilt, self-blame or shame?
